Vacation season is just around the corner for all of us here in Southeastern Michigan, so there's no better time to share a quick list of 5 things to do before leaving town!
  1. Use timers: If you have light or radio timers, be sure to put them to use while you're away so that it looks and sounds like someone is home while you're away.
  2. Contact neighbors: Let your neighbors know you'll be away and give them your contact information in case of an emergency.
  3. Keep your lawn cut: Hire a service or someone from the neighborhood to keep your lawn looking nice, so it's never obvious that you've been away.
  4. Turn water off: If you're leaving for an extended period of time, turning the water off can protect you against all sorts of disasters.
  5. Be cautious online: Try to avoid posting pictures of your vacation publicly. Obviously, sharing them with family and friends is fine, but you don't want to tip off strangers that your home is empty.
If you have any questions about how you can protect your home while you're away this spring and summer, or if you need real estate assistance of any kind, give us a call or shoot us an email. We would love to hear from you!
